All the fun things I do outside of piano playing

no pictures… July 21, 2009

Filed under: food — Jung @ 11:07 am

Slaved all day back and forth from the kitchen to the piano since 5:30 in the morning yesterday throwing a big party after performing at the IKIF last night, and there is not one single picture to show for it… UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! None of my usual girls could make it to the party, so no one was there to remind me to take pictures… hah, I really feel like whining for the rest of the century… Guess I have to throw the same party again… =P

But kisses to new friend R for staying in the 500 degree kitchen with me for all those late night hours helping out and sharing my secret stash of some really fabulous bubbly that is for the “kitchen crew” only Smile

Here is the menu (my attempt in continuing the tradition of serving pizza at the after event receptions at the festival founder Rose’s, just these were not delivery pizza, but my handmade brick oven thin crust pizza Smile ):

White Bean Hummus, Caramelized Onion, Arugula, and Asiago Pizza
(Todd English’s award winning recipe that paid for his son’s summer camp during a financial difficult time — love the story…)

Classic Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil, and Parmesan Pizza

Rosemary Fig Jam, Prociutto di Parma, Scallion, and Gorgonzola Cheese Pizza

Spinach Pizza with Oregano Marinated Tomatoes, Caramelized Red onion, and Feta Cheese

Portobello Mushrooms, Porcini Mushroom Purée, Truffle Oil, and Fontina Cheese Pizza

Spicy Shrimp Pizza with Caramelized Leeks, Scallion, and Tomato Sauce

Red and White Sangria, and Lemongrass Pineapple Saketini for drinks

Made 9 trays of 6 different kinds of pizza, only have empty trays, and dirty glasses to show the head count…

These probably helped me getting only very minor-ly searched at the airport since my goth long skirt with a million metal pieces and buckles triggered the metal detector… note to self… do NOT go goth next time when travel…

took only a few pictures while in Nantucket this time, they are up on My Gallery site.

Can’t believe I made Miya grilled porterhouse with ground porcini mushroom dry rub after I had just seen the documentary “Food Inc” at the Film Forum 2 weeks ago… well, this was per request… hah, smelled like very animal-ie flesh and bloody thing-ie to me =P

Juliet’s Death July 8, 2009

Filed under: Music — Jung @ 7:05 am

Haven’t closed my eyes since walking home from my 4th time to ABT’s performance of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet at the Met late last night (smooches to Linda for the most fabulous seats Smile ). The final scene hunts me for — don’t know how many years now. Really should write a transcription of it for myself…

The morning sun outside is hurting my eyes… what glorious music…
