Pasta Macarena! May 10, 2008

Filed under: friends, food — Jung @ 11:16 am

Not since Nathaniel, has anyone had this much fun in my kitchen!

Tango July 20, 2007

Filed under: friends, miscellaneous — Jung @ 12:43 pm

Saw Linda after a recital I played, started babbling about how I would LOVE to tango.

Miraculously, she got the real Argentinean tango instructor Alicia, rented a studio, got all her friends together, there we were, having tango lessons!

Exporting these frames off of the video I took during our lesson this Wednesday, my Sony high-def cam takes fab enough video image (even in standard format) to withstand the test of still image.

Nathaniel

For all the fun time we spent in my kitchen, my dear friend - sous chef, Nathaniel Yangco, I will miss you so…

Robert the Surrealist June 21, 2007

Filed under: friends, video — Jung @ 11:17 pm

While Robert was shooting (with my HD video camera) the still life fruit plate (belonged to his adorable wify Celine) for his experimental surrealistic expressionism theatrical short documentary, I was babbling in the background about the actual pineapple and fruit, this couldn’t be funnier… :-)

Filmed after the fund raising concert I played tonight at the Polish Consulate during the beautifully catered dinner. Robert is my favorite photographer/computer genius.

This is my first Flash video, kind of figured it out while riding in the subway last weekend…

Lee/gendary and Soomi Kim June 19, 2007

Leegendary

SoomiRushed from our gig at the Cervantes over to finally see my friend Soomi on stage at the Theatre Row.

She is chosen by the First National Asian American Theater Festival to present her original performance piece about Bruce Lee.

I was dazzled by Soomi’s display of strength and marvelous discipline in martial arts, and also her refined acting skill of conveying the masculine hero — Bruce Lee himself… Bravo!

The whole production with the superb cast, its video visual effects, original folkian improvisational style music by Jen, and the additional recorded music by the most fabulous guitarist Adam… What an experience! Everything is so seamlessly done, and so well. Soomi, you have me as a fan :-)

Derek Sitr Not Fry
Made some fabulous raw vegan “Stir not Fry” with Asian marinade and Raw Hazelnut “Ice no Cream” for Amelia’s visit tonight. Amelia hung the pug bag on her daddy Derek, but was too tired to pose for the photo-op… another perfect and happy summer night 8)

Welcoming Otto Henning Buff May 14, 2007

Filed under: friends, food — Jung @ 10:24 pm

The long anticipated Full-Month Celebration (Chinese tradition) for Otto was such a joyous event yesterday at the home of my dear friends Celine & Robert’s. This is the time for the parents to show off the new born to all the family and friends. We had a huge production, Otto’s daddy, Robert (a computer wizard), picking me up in the morning, moving all my prepared sauces, food ingredients, kitchen tools, cases of champagne glasses, dishes, serving plates… over to their home, it looked as if I was moving! There ends my catering fantasy — too much moving! :-)

I made lots of food for guests of 30, we ate, we drank, and we ate more, and we drank more, it was sheer happiness little Otto brought us. Maybe Celine should be a mommy for the 3rd time as Robert is already thinking of — we get to celebrate more often :-)

Yes, I AM STILL VEGAN, even though some stuff on the menu I could eat, I ended up chewing a bag of baby carrots with lots of the fabulous sake drinks I made — I can’t think about eating when I cook

Green Rose
Notice that I was wearing a green dress underneath the pink apron and all the dishes have something green in them? Celine got a bounty of gorgeous Green Roses (now seating in my home) to coordinate with my Green/spring theme for Otto’s party. (This picture by me)

Otto got his exciting beginning from her mommy & daddy’s trip with me to Chicago for my performance last summer. Even though he didn’t get to eat my food yesterday, he has tasted the cuisines of famed chefs Charlie Trotter & Rick Tramonto’s from that very beginning in Chicago. Otto Henning Buff was born April 8, 2007 weighing 8 pounds.

AmeliaWieland.comAnnouncing the completion of Amelia’s website!

Well, the first draft version at least ;-)

I was up at 5 am, there wasn’t much to do at those hours outside of encoding my film clips in the background, Amelia’s website, her real birthday gift from me, finally got its deserved attention.

She is such a brilliant baby, I can imagine only in a few years, she will take her blog over from her daddy & mommy and start writing down ideas and thoughts of her own.

Amelia Happy Face May 2, 2007

Filed under: friends, Hello Kitty — Jung @ 1:50 pm

I was in Indiana on Amelia’s 2nd birthday, her mommy Shih-Yi (my dear friend for the past 17 years!) suggested that we take her for gelato last night to make up for it. I haven’t leisurely walk out the house for quite a long time, it was really nice.Amelia with MomI got some cute bobbing head frog picture frame, and Hello Kitty novelties for Amelia, I find them innovative. Zoe and mommy Celine

Zoe the star
Zoe’s mommy, my dear friend Celine, once told me how much Zoe loves to sing. I was ecstatic when I found this Hello Kitty CD player and Karaoke system!

hmm, how I would have loved to keep it for myself, but it seems like she is going to have lots more fun with it than me :-)
