Steamed Little Juicy Buns March 20, 2009
According to the New York Times, one of the 10 restaurants in the world one must visit is this place in Taipei called Din Tai Fung 鼎泰è±.
Since a Japanese firm became its main investor quite some years ago, it now has 45 restaurants all over Asia and one in the US, with top notch quality control — even the number of creases on each bun is unified.
Ray took me to the very original one of course. From its humble beginning of a little first floor eatery to now an entire building of 5 floors with customers lining outside for blocks. We waited with patience even though there are lots of their chain restaurants in Taipei with no wait — the food experience was divine… Yes, I ate animals tonight, and I didn’t feel bad about it, but am not gonna become a carnivore because of this
If you don’t get to come to Taipei, visit the one in California
